Just what I have been looking for! It is nice to see simple instruction for contemporary way of managing network interfaces.

Most manuals, how-to&#039;s (e.g. rpm-packaged openSUSE 11.3 documentation) mention only old (deprecated?) ifconfig/ifup/ifdown/ifstatus tools.</description>

		<description>Good little guide, didn&#039;t know about the -6 switch. But one thing bugs me, what does the STATE unknown mean exactly, what other states are there? Also, why is there such and odd number for mtu on loopback, has to be a reason for that:).
